Burning the Midnight Eraser

sometimes i draw crap

06 Apr

I just wanted to let everyone following me because of Queen’s Crown know that I AM working on the reboot series of pictures and there are definitely a bunch of new characters to look forward to.

I’ve also got some interesting plans for the series but we’ll have to see how that plays out.

In the meantime, I’m working as fast as I can in between commissions and getting everything figured out for my move to a new house next month (fingers crossed the home inspection pans out!) and then my wedding.

My life has become far more chaotic than I’m used to and dealing with it is tough but I promise I’ll get it all done ASAP!

No one is obligated to love something forever. That being said though, you shouldn’t be ashamed that you did like the show either Will. There are lots of terrible terrible fans and society does frown upon liking the show heavily now, but I’m sure when you were a fan you were having fun with it to some extent. It just isn’t fun for you anymore is all. It is a pretty good cartoon that has been tainted by some not so great people. Even I have distanced myself from the fandom even though I still like the cartoon. I’m not ashamed to say I like the cartoon still, but I am ashamed of the people that have made the fandom so bad that casual fans that just like cartoons have to feel bad for liking it now. Just be proud you were one of the decent fans when you were one. You have no reason to be ashamed of having been one. I don’t blame you for moving away from it completely though. The thought has even crossed my mind in recent months. Just don’t look back at yourself in disgust, you weren’t one of those terrible people that brought the fandom to the ugly state it is now. Be proud you weren’t one of those dung beetles. (I know I’m assuming a lot but knowing you I’m sure you have nothing to be ashamed of. Also that anon doesn’t know what they hell they are talking about. No one has to be part of a group forever. Anyone that assumes so is a moron.)

I’m not really ashamed of liking the show. I can freely admit I liked the show. It’s way overrated and there’s better stuff all around, but MLP was still pretty decent (at least the first three seasons, I tried watching season 4 and got bored out of my skull). I do look back on it negatively, not because of what the show was, but more what I let myself become while watching it, and the people I surrounded myself with. My main problem is with the fandom, not the show. I did the brony conventions, the brony meetups, the brony forums, all that, and just what I experienced there was not something I want to associate myself with.

So I don’t regret it, in fact my brony phase is what pulled me out of a serious depression, and led to some cool stuff (the reason I joined Tumblr was to make an MLP blog). But I don’t at all like what I was like and the stuff I associated with then, and it’s not because of the show itself. After all, the vast majority of what I watch now is cute girl anime, so MLP’s not that huge of a departure.

Good. I’m glad you aren’t hard on yourself for having liked the show. So many people are these days because everyone assumes anyone that likes or that liked it is a bad person when that really isn’t the case. I fully understand why you pulled yourself away from the fandom though. I pretty much have as well. I still watch the show on occasion but I tend to stay away from the community these days, I can’t bear to read or see most of the material it cranks out anymore. There is still good things being posted in the various communities, but it is buried by so much filth I can’t bring myself to try and find the gems among the shit anymore. For me it will just be something I quietly enjoy by myself most of the time now I think. I have no real urge to get involved with the fandom at this point.

It’s funny because MLP is how I originally ended up getting to know you crimsonphase. I hope the community hasn’t ruined it too much for ya. :(

It hasn’t. I still enjoy the show. That is what matters most. I’m happy I did get to meet some good people through the fandom like you. Distancing myself from it now isn’t really hurting anything since I already met some good people from it. I’m just trying to stay away from the not so good stuff I see every time I go into Rarity’s tag and other pony tags. I can’t handle that part of things anymore.

Sorry to intrude, but I’m really curious about what you mean about the fandom now. How did it get worse? I always have been and still am a huge fan (I watch it literally every night to sleep) but I’ve never paid much attention to the community.

Just look around in some of the tags and stuff sometime Aeri. The general attitude and atmosphere of the community has taken a pretty rough turn lately. Often I find myself getting depressed when I skim through the tags once in a while. If not depressed, grossed out, if not grossed out angry. There is just so much hate, gross stuff and depressing stuff surrounding the fandom that I don’t really want to get involved with any of it anymore. I still love the show but as far as the community goes I’m done. I will just enjoy the show and talk about it with the friends I already have that like it from now on.

I understand.

Maybe I have some kind of anti-scumbag forcefield on tumblr, but I browsed #rarity and #twilight sparkle and #my little pony and saw nothing too bad. The closest thing to bad I saw was a little bump on the pony’s crotches, or slightly flirtatious things, but these were both rare.

The #my little pony tag has a lot of art of varying quality but still nothing hateful, pornographic, or even all that weird. So I still don’t really get it but I definitely understand how fandoms can kill things.

A big part of it is the anti-mlp movement, too. They’re so hateful and inflammatory that I feel like it’s rubbed off on the bronies and made them overly defensive and more in your face with their fandom, which is just stupid.

This same thing happened with InuYasha and Naruto, too. Hell, even Justin Beiber. Fanatical people ruin the things they love most, it seems.

Keychains and Prints for sale!

As some of you may know, I’m engaged now. Right now we’re working on finding a house to move into, and we’re hoping to get married in September.

We’re going to have a really simple wedding, but no matter how small you go, weddings are pretty expensive. So I’m having a sale!

All of my prints are 11”x17” can be found here, but here are a few of my favorites:

I’m also selling my leftover keychains:

The keychains were scanned in, and as a result look darker, duller, and blurrier than they are in real life, so I included the official art used to make the keychains to give a better idea of how they look in person.

Keychains are $3 each +$2 for shipping. I give discounts on multiple keychain orders but it’ll raise the cost of shipping, too.

If you would like for me to make you a custom keychain, please contact me and we’ll discuss pricing. You’ll get a high resolution image of your chibi commission and a custom keychain in the mail! I’ll do any character, including OCs.

Prints are $7 each + $3 for shipping.

I accept payments through Paypal and money orders, and require payment upfront.

To order, feel free to note me on dA, email me at aerianr@hotmail.com, or send me a message here on tumblr.

Even if you’re not interested in purchasing anything, please spread this around so others that might be interested can see it

ScarJo does shit like calling Dylan Farrow ‘irresponsible’ and backs Woody Allen and does an add for a company that has a factory in the fucking West Bank and yet y’all stan for her because you think she’s pretty, has an ok ass for a white…

"has an ok ass for a white girl"

Why the fuck are comments like this okay? What if someone said, “She’s got pretty hair for a black girl.”

What a dickish thing to say.
